Our Top 5 Frequently Asked Questions

Please download from the School Communicator website http://www.d6technology.com/downloads/#school

Select your school from the dropdown list and click on the Windows button. When prompted, please click save, and download it to your computer. Once the installer has completely downloaded, you can double click on the icon to start the installation process. The icon will be where you saved the file to (usually the desktop). Alternatively, you can click "run" after clicking "save". Follow the instructions from there.

For the mobile School Communicator application please go to the following address: http://www.d6technology.com/downloads/#school

Select the correct device option from under the heading "School Communicator for your mobile" and follow the steps from there.

This is usually due to security settings preventing the Communicator from accessing our server, and normally occurs when installing on a company network.

When did you install the Communicator? Please keep in mind that the Communicator can take around half an hour to update content, depending on how much has been loaded by the school. Please also make sure that you have selected the correct channels in the Personalise tab.

On the School Communicator mobile application, swipe left and then you would click on the "Select schools" tab and then add the new school you need to receive content for, then click next. It will then appear in your home feed of the School Communicator mobile app.

For the computer version you will need to install the Communicator individually for each school from the following link: http://www.d6technology.com/downloads#school

Press the Windows button and R and it will bring up the “Run” window. Type Control Panel in this search field and press Enter. Now click on “Programs and Features". It might take a while for the list to populate. Scroll down the list until you see the Communicator, then click “Uninstall" to remove from your computer.

Please follow the instructions below to remove the Communicator from your Mac:

1.Stop the application in the activity monitor by finding the process (it will start with ‘d6’) and clicking on the stop button.  If you do not know where to find your Activity Monitor, click on the Spotlight search button at the top right of your screen and type Activity Monitor in the search bar. 

2. Now remove the application by simply dragging the appropriate folder from your "Applications" folder into the trash. 

3.You will also need to remove stored d6 files that are not auto deleted when you trash the application. To do so hold down the option/alt key and click on the “Go” tab. Click on “Library” in the drop down then “Application Support” then “com.d6technology”. In this will be a folder for d6_xxxx. 

4. Delete the whole d6_xxxx folder
